NAN ELLEN NELSON

She might have been a star when she was barely a teenager but other things were more important to Nan Ellen Nelson. Things like an education, a normal childhood and discovering who she was. A couple of radio stations in her hometown of Melbourne, Florida began playing one of her songs when she was only 12-years-old.

Blessed with a hauntingly beautiful voice, the petite blonde fireball brims with the confidence that comes from knowing who she is and what she wants to do. "I'm not interested in doing things just to be like other performers. I want to sing songs that anyone can relate to and that will be a positive influence," Nan Ellen earnestly explains.

Her thrilling performances have been well received whether she's been opening for O-Town at New York's Brookhaven amphitheatre or wowing the crowd at Universal Studio's City Walk in Orlando in a promotion of the "Let There Be Love" Christmas CD featuring Nan Ellen and other Florida talent.

Inspired by the tragedies of September 11, she teamed-up with John Nance Sharp to write "Give," a thoughtful reflection on the need to come together and carry on through the worst of times. Central Florida station WESH 2 put the song together with news footage to create a moving tribute that aired several times.

She'll soon be moving the people who move national policy when she sings at a gathering prior to the National Prayer Breakfast, attended by members of both the Senate and House.

Music has always been in her blood. Nan Ellen always enjoyed sitting at the piano and singing show tunes with her dad. The young beauty with the seemingly permanent smile began writing songs at the age of 10 and two years later she recorded her "For Once More" and gave a copy to some friends. It was never supposed to go further but the CD found its way into the hands of a couple of local radio programmers and soon reporters were calling the Nelson household to find out about this exciting young singer one radio station executive called "another Debbie Gibson."
