2010: White House Appointee at the Peace Corps Headquarters in Washington, D.C.- Special Events.

 

2008-2009: Nan Ellen Nelson, LLC- Leadership development business, empowering emerging leaders in moral, servant and authentic leadership.

 

2008: Golden Rule International-  Director of Leadership Development.

 

2007: Israel, Palestinian Territory, Jordan and Ethiopia- Mentored young women in moral leadership, served orphans and the poor, and involved in women's interfaith dialogue working towards reconciliation.

 

2006: U.S. Senate Campaign- Director of Faith Outreach. Headed up the Religious Outreach for U.S. Senator Bill Nelson's re-election campaign.

 

2005: Masters in Leadership at Georgetown's Business School- (Ethics and Moral Leadership Focus), and developed young women from around the world in moral and servant leadership.

 

1992 - 2010: The Renaissance Gathering- Worldwide leaders gather to dialogue on major issues in an intellectual, social and thought provoking atmosphere for the purpose of building relationships to bring about change. Participated on numerous occasions as moderator, speaker and had opportunities to be a part of multigenerational panels with government and business leaders including former President Bill Clinton and the late Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmon. Other panelists included Senator Evan Bayh, Howard Dean, Wesley Clark and Richard Viguerie, Chairman, American Target Advertising.

 

2003 - 2004: The Arts- Accomplished vocalist and songwriter. Recording artist, Big Three Records and other music industry accomplishments. Responsible for effective project management of recording projects to ensure successful on time completion.

 

1993 - 2000: The International Foundation, Washington, DC- Served as group leader and facilitator for the National Student Leadership Forum on Faith and Values, Washington, DC. This annual event brings selected student leaders from various colleges and universities together for servant leadership development through exposure to government and business leaders in the nations capitol. Also served as key student leader helping design and deliver moral leadership principles to attendees. Participated in the various events, including meetings with key leaders such as:

  • Congressman Mike Doyle, PA
  • Congressman Zach Wamp, TN
  • Jim Towey, Former Director, Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, The White House

 

1998 - 1999: TN Student Leadership Forum on Faith & Values, Nashville, TN- Co-founded and hosted Tennessee Student Leadership Forum, for Congressman Zach Wamp in Tennessee. Provided leadership, training and organizational logistics for this event. This leadership project was acknowledged by Vanderbilt at a significant level and resulted in credit toward my organizational development degree.

 

1993 - 2009: FL Student Leadership Forum on Faith & Values, Tallahassee, FL- Headed the food distribution gleaning project with student leaders from Florida. Planned, organized and promoted this project along with speaking and other leadership duties. This project provided food for the hungry in Florida, and touched thousands of people.

 

1998: Congressional Fellow- Sponsored by Congressman and Mrs. Jim Slattery and other congressional representatives, this experience provided exposure to government officials and processes through a summer internship. Evaluated processes related to the Student Leadership Forum on Faith & Values in order to make recommendations for future improvements.

 

1997: International Student Leadership Forum on Faith & Values, London, England- Focused on servant and moral leadership from an international perspective with students from colleges and universities throughout the world.

 

1997: European Student Leadership Forum on Faith & Values, Berlin, Germany- Participated in the German Student Leadership Forum as speaker and leader. Planned and organized various events and served as key group leader for students.

 

1992: Harvard University- John F. Kennedy School of Government

Institute of Politics guest high school participant. (Family member of the Fellows Program). Creative learning experiences and workshops with business and government professionals such as Ted Turner and Ross Perot.  This covered a full semester through lectures, case studies and hands-on projects.  Political figures included Governor Dukakis and the Carville-Mary Matalin duo.

 

Throughout Adult Career: Public Relations and Communications Experience- Have worked in several venues using public relations and communications skills. These venues required excellent presentation and precise communication based on a creative flow of ideas. The various engagements follow:

  • Political Career for United States Senator Bill Nelson- Co-Produced feature commercial with US Senator Bill Nelson during 2000 campaign. 
  • Walt Disney World Resort- Participated in 20th Anniversary production with NBC Channel 2, Orlando. This was a public relations event for the anniversary celebration.
  • Radio - Radio exposure and commercials for XL 106.7, WA1A, Y102, and 93.9 (Florida stations).
  • September 11 Tributes- Worked on two related projects as follows:
  • WESH 2 Television production to encourage victims families through song (written and sung by me) and video.
  • Provided leadership and organizational direction to one-year anniversary event honoring September 11 families. Performed business and administrative functions to produce an evening in Washington, DC with such celebrities as Mohammed Ali, Roberta Flack and Randy Travis.
